Title of the dataset:3D-Model of Medieval Vilvenich Chapel, Rhineland 2. Brief description of the research project and its aims: The dataset shows a 3D model of the Vilvenich chapel Until its demolition in 2010, the chapel in Vilvenich, in the district of Düren, was one of the last hall churches in the Rhenish Börde to have been largely preserved. Before excavations were carried out by the University of Bonn from 2015 to 2017, a building survey was carried out. Thanks to the Foundation for the Promotion of Archaeology in the Rhenish Lignite Mining District, the results have now been published. The Roman and Merovingian periods were followed by the construction of a hall church with a short or long nave in the 10th/11th century. It was probably preceded by a wooden church. In the late 12th century, a side aisle was added, which was later dismantled. Findings of a casting system show that the church had a bronze bell. The cemetery contains around 120 graves, mainly from the 9th to 12th centuries. In modern times, reconstruction and renovation measures were carried out, such as the construction of supporting pillars and walls, as well as a portal (1731) and the renewal of the roof truss after damage caused by the Second World War.
