Brief description of the research project and its aims: This namelist was used for running an irrigation long-term experiment and a control run with the ICON (Icosahedral Nonhydrostatic) Model. This model was developed by the German Weather Service (DWD) and the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M). ICON is currently used operationally at DWD for weather forecasting and it is now open source (https://www.icon-model.org/) Studies on irrigation within Earth system models have demonstrated the irrigation effects on various variables. While some regional simulations in Europe have focused on short-term impacts during a single growing season, comprehensive long-term simulations across the entire continent are lacking. Our study aims to quantify the long-term impact of irrigation on surface and atmospheric variables over the EURO-CORDEX domain using convection-permitting ICON simulations that cover a period of 12 years. The control (no irrigation) and irrigation experiments used the current namelist for a simulation spanning from 2010 to 2022. Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: This namelist is a ASCII text configuration file to run ICON simulations. We defined the namelist based on the requeriments of the long-term ICON simulations. For our particular case, we worked with ICON-nwp, on Limited-area mode and with a resolution of 3 km. Limited-area mode means that our model domain is only regional and not global. Since our model domain only includes the EURO-CORDEX area, we are working on Limited-area mode.
