# Funerary ensemble of the Lady Tairkap
- **description:** Central components of the burial of the Lady Tairkap (TꜢ-ỉ.ỉr-kꜢp), consisting of her mummy, a flat canopic chest, and two coffins, both of anthropoid shape. While the small canopic chest is of an unusual type, the two coffins are typical examples of their place and time, i.e. Thebes in the 7th century BCE. At a closer look, however, their textual decoration shows some features that have no direct parallel to this day. They thereby testify to the high degree of diversity in choice, arrangement, and modification of traditional elements of decoration which makes each set of funerary equipment individual. The funerary ensemble was brought to Berlin in 1822 as parts of the collection of Johann von Minutoli <http://d-nb.info/gnd/100791549>, together with the comparable one of Pestjenfi (ÄM 50–54), probably a close relative of Tairkap.

## Layer_01: Outer Coffin
- **description:** As for the inner coffin, the shape of the outer anthropoid coffin is typical for its time, that is without a socle and without a rounded passage from the flat bottom to the sides of the case.

## Layer_02: Inner Coffin
- **description:** Tairkaps inner coffin is a fine example of richly decorated coffins of the Late Period. As is typical for inner coffins, it represents the mummiform deceased standing on a socle like a statue. The pictures and inscriptions could be chosen and arranged in many different ways, but in short, the coffin may be called ‘typical’ for its time. Still, the choice of texts, especially on the inner sides of lid and case, is remarkable and deserves closer attention. All texts inside have been taken from the so-called Book of the Dead. On the head, an extract from spell 99 evokes air for breathing which explains its position. All other inscriptions strictly follow the sequence of spells as found on Book of the Dead papyri from the 26th dynasty onwards, here spells 43–49 (lid) and 50–54 (case). The sequence shows that lid and case were not seen as separate objects once the coffin was closed.

## Canopic chest
- **description:** From the Old Kingdom onwards, some of the inner organs of the deceased were mummified and preserved in four small containers outside the coffin. Normally, these four canopic jars stood together in a small shrine, but here it is a flat box which, contained the mummified packages without jars and was put below the foot-end of the inner coffin in the outer one.

## Contents:
The dataset is hierarchically organized and consists of seven digital objects (AM 3/01 – AM 6/02). It follows the arrangement of the funerary ensemble—from the outer sarcophagus (AM 3/01) to the dataset containing the mummy (the body - AM 6/02). The graphical representation and the semantic relationships serve as a guide for the digital reconstruction of the entire funerary ensemble.
