Brief description of the research project and its aims: Our research proposes a new reproducible and low-cost hardware and software testing protocol to evaluate the battery impact of individual sensors in modern iPhone devices. In the accompanying publication (DOI:), we introduce and explain the protocol in detail. Next, we ran 29 experiments based on the protocol, carried out on 9 iPhone devices running iOS 16.6. This dataset includes the collected battery data for those experiments. 3. Author Information A. Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: The data was collected through our BatteryTest iOS application, built with Swift, CoreData, CoreMotion, CoreLocation, AVFoundation, and other system-level frameworks (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18800055). BatteryTest was ran on multiple iPhones (3 iPhone 13 Pro and 6 iPhone 14 Pro, all running iOS 16.6, the latest OS version at the time) placed in a sturdy wooden box on the floor. As the environment inside the box was dark, we installed a battery-powered LED light for the Camera and TrueDepth experiments. According to our tests, the TrueDepth sensor only produced data while a face was in front of the device, so we printed out a generic face and installed it inside the box. The printed face is not part of this dataset. 2. Methods for processing the data: The data was collected and exported through our BatteryTest application. Temporary storage (on-device) was implemented via CoreData. Data was exported as JSON files and moved to laptops for further analysis. 3.
