The map reveals that marginality hotspots are ethnically more homogeneous than non-hotspot areas. Quality/Lineage: This map shows the ethnic fractionalization index as developed by Taylor and Hudson (1970). The index is calculated as 1- sum(gi), where g is the proportion of people belonging to ethnic group i. The sum runs from 1 to n, where n is the number of ethnic groups in the country.
