The plaster cast shows the relief from Chrysapha, whose original is located in the Antikensammlung Berlin (Inv. Sk 731) and is dated around 550/40 BC. It was found in Chrysapha, a small-town southeast of Sparta in Laconia, and is made of grey-bluish marble. The relief shows two gods, male and female, sitting on a throne with a high backrest and turned to the left side. The god is depicted in the foreground. Both arms are raised and stretched forward, the right hand is holding a huge kantharos. In the background the goddess is depicted in profile. Her left hand is raised holding a veil, while her right hand lies on her thigh with a pomegranate in her hand. Two worshippers, also male and female, are standing underneath the kantharos. The man is carrying a rooster and an egg, while the woman is carrying a flower and a pomegranate.
