This resource presents a subset of household survey data collected from two villages (close and distant) around the Okalma Forest in Sinnar state, Sudan. The dataset is shared along with accompanying R scripts for analysis and also includes the published results derived from those analyses. The primary goal of the project is to understand how local households perceive, value, and utilize forest ecosystem services, with a specific focus on socio-cultural (non-monetary) valuation. This dataset offers crucial Ecosystem Service Valuation data and is highly relevant for researchers and practitioners working on sustainable forest management, including gum Arabic forests, forest dependency, rural livelihoods, and sustainable land-use planning in Sub-Saharan Africa. Furthermore, we strongly encourage researchers worldwide to utilize this unique resource for comparative analysis of ecosystem service valuation projects across different global contexts.
